Florida CE renewal: common questions
How many CE hours do Florida real estate agents need?
14 hours every 24-month renewal period: 3 hours of Florida Core Law, 3 hours of Ethics and Business Practices, and 8 hours of specialty continuing education.
Is CE the same for sales associates and brokers?
Yes. The 14-hour continuing education requirement is identical for sales associates, brokers and broker associates. Post-licensing is where they differ: 45 hours for sales associates and 60 for brokers.
Do I need CE for my first renewal?
No. Your first renewal requires post-licensing education instead: 45 hours for sales associates. The 14-hour CE requirement starts with your second renewal.
Can I take Florida CE online?
Yes. FREC allows continuing education in classroom and distance education formats. Distance education courses end with a course exam.
How do I know my CE hours were reported?
Schools must report completed courses to DBPR, and you can check the hours posted to your license on MyFloridaLicense.com. Keep a paper copy of each course completion certificate in case DBPR audits you.
