Washington CE renewal: common questions
How many CE hours do Washington real estate brokers need?
After your first renewal, 30 hours every two years: the 3-hour Current Issues in Washington Residential Real Estate course and at least 27 hours of other approved CE.
Is there a fair housing requirement?
Yes. You take the initial 6-hour Washington Real Estate Fair Housing course once, then the 3-hour fair housing course each renewal.
When do my hours have to be completed?
At least 15 hours must be within 24 months of your renewal date. Up to 15 hours completed within 48 months can count, as long as they weren't used for an earlier renewal.
Do I upload my certificates when I renew?
No. You certify online that you've completed your CE, and only upload proof if your renewal notice says you've been chosen for an audit.
When do I renew?
Every two years from your original issue date. You can renew up to 120 days early, and your fingerprint background check must be renewed every six years.
