Virginia post-license: common questions
How many post-license hours do new Virginia salespersons need?
30 hours of Board-approved post-license education, split across nine required courses, to keep an active license.
When is it due?
Within one year of the last day of the month your license was issued. For example, a license issued January 1, 2018 needed all 30 hours by January 31, 2019.
What happens if I miss the deadline?
Your license goes inactive automatically and you can't practice. To reactivate, finish the 30 hours and submit an Activate/Transfer Application with the fee.
Can post-license count as CE?
No. Post-license and continuing education are separate, and neither counts toward the other. After finishing post-license, CE taken in the last six months of your first term can carry over to your second.
