Getting a South Carolina real estate license: common questions
How many hours of pre-license education does South Carolina require?
90 hours: the 60-hour Unit I Fundamentals of Real Estate course and the 30-hour Unit II Advanced Real Estate Principles course.
Can a degree replace the courses?
Yes. A law degree, or a bachelor's or higher degree with a major in real estate, exempts you from pre-licensing courses.
When do I do the background checks?
Only after the Commission receives your application and emails instructions. Both a fingerprint check and a Social Security number check are required.
Can I get licensed without a broker in charge?
Yes. Your license will be issued in inactive status until you activate under a supervising broker in charge.
