Ohio CE renewal: common questions
How many CE hours do Ohio real estate agents need?
30 hours every three years, due on or before your birthday three years after your initial licensure and every three years after that.
Which courses are required?
At least 3 hours each on civil rights and fair housing, current state and federal legislation affecting real estate, and the canons of ethics. Brokers and management-level licensees also need a 3-hour course on principal broker duties.
Can extra hours carry over?
Yes, up to 10 hours beyond the required 30 can be applied to your next three-year period.
What if I miss my CE deadline?
Your license is suspended automatically. If you don't complete the requirement within 12 months of the suspension, the license is revoked automatically.
Do licensees 70 or older still need CE?
Yes, but less: 9 hours per reporting period covering Ohio real estate law, recent legislation, civil rights and ethics. Licensees 70 or older with an inactive license are exempt.
