Colorado CE renewal: common questions
How many CE hours do Colorado real estate brokers need?
24 hours each three-year licensing cycle: three different versions of the 4-hour Annual Commission Update (ACU) plus 12 hours of electives.
Can I take the same ACU twice?
No. A new ACU is developed each year, and you can't repeat the ACU or an elective in the same calendar year. For a license expiring December 31, 2024, you'd take the 2022, 2023 and 2024 ACUs.
Are there alternatives to the 24 hours?
Yes: the Commission-approved 24-hour Broker Reactivation Course (not in back-to-back cycles), or 48 hours of Colorado contracts and 24 hours of closings plus passing the Colorado portion of the exam.
Can extra hours carry over?
No. Hours beyond 24 can't be carried into your next licensing cycle, and you can earn no more than 8 CE hours in a day.
