North Carolina real estate exam: common questions
How many questions are on the North Carolina real estate exam?
150 questions: 80 on the National section, 60 on the State section, and 10 unscored pretest items. You have up to four and a half hours.
What score do I need to pass?
75 on the National section and 75 on the State section. Each section is scored separately.
If I fail one section, do I retake the whole exam?
No, as long as you retest within the same 180-day eligibility period; you only retake the section you didn't pass. After 180 days, you'll need a new application and both sections.

After you receive your Notice of Exam Eligibility, schedule with Pearson VUE at pearsonvue.com/nc/realestate or by calling 800-745-2627.
