Tennessee CE renewal: common questions
How many CE hours do Tennessee affiliate brokers need?
16 hours every two-year renewal: the 6-hour mandatory TREC CORE course and 10 hours of electives, finished on or before your license expiration date.
Can I renew without the CORE course?
No. Completing 16 hours of CE is a condition of renewal, and the 6 hours of TREC CORE are mandatory within them.
How does TREC know I finished my CE?
Your course sponsor loads your completions into CE Broker, TREC's official CE tracking system, within 10 business days. You can check your compliance in CE Broker.
Is anyone grandfathered?
Affiliate brokers licensed before 1980 with no gaps are grandfathered from CE. Since January 1, 2026, principal brokers who oversee at least one affiliate must take CE even if grandfathered.
What if my license is retired?
You don't need the 16 hours to renew a retired license, but you must complete them before you submit the TREC 1 form to return to active status.
