New Jersey CE renewal: common questions
How many CE hours do New Jersey real estate agents need?
12 credit hours each two-year license term. At least 6 must be core topics, including at least 2 hours of ethics, 1 hour of Fair Housing and NJ Law Against Discrimination, and 1 hour of agency.
When is the CE deadline?
For the current term, all 12 hours must be done by April 30, 2027, or you'll pay a mandatory $200 late CE processing fee. Licenses renew by June 30, 2027.
Do extra hours roll over?
No. CE credits don't roll over to the next term, and you can't get credit for the same course twice in one term.
Does a broker course count as CE?
Yes. Completing New Jersey broker pre-licensure education during a term satisfies the CE requirement for that term.
What if I don't finish CE before my license expires?
You can't renew, and your license expires. You'll need to complete the CE, go through reinstatement and pay the fees.
