Michigan CE renewal: common questions
How many CE hours do Michigan real estate salespersons need?
At least 18 clock hours in each three-year license cycle.
Are there yearly requirements?
Yes. In each year of the cycle you need at least 2 hours on real estate laws, rules and court cases and at least 1 hour on fair housing compliance. The remaining hours can be taken any time before you renew.
Can I renew before finishing CE?
No. LARA says to complete your CE before the online renewal. If you can't certify that you've met the requirement, don't submit the application.
Does the state track my CE?
No. The Department doesn't keep a record of your CE. Keep your own proof for at least four years after you certify, and produce it if asked. LARA partners with CE Marketplace to help you track credits.
What if my license expired?
If it expired less than three years ago, you can relicense by completing 6 hours of CE for each year or partial year since it expired, including the yearly law and fair housing hours.
