Massachusetts CE renewal: common questions
How many CE hours do Massachusetts real estate agents need?
12 hours of continuing education for each license term, made up of six different 2-hour modules.
When do Massachusetts licenses renew?
On your birthday in your renewal year. You can renew online through eLIPSE starting 90 days before your expiration date, and you'll upload a notarized CORI authorization form.
What if I don't finish CE before I renew?
The Board must renew your license as inactive. You can't work as an agent with an inactive license, though you may receive referral fees. CE must be done before you renew to active status, with no exceptions.
Can my pre-license hours count as CE?
No. Pre-licensure education can't be used to satisfy continuing education.
How do I reactivate an inactive license?
Complete the 12 hours of CE, then send the Board a License Reactivation Form with your course completion certificates.
