Kentucky CE renewal: common questions
How many CE hours do Kentucky real estate agents need?
Under KRS 324.085 as amended effective July 15, 2026, active licensees complete 12 classroom or online hours per two-year license period, with 6 in real estate law. KREC's website may still describe the older 6-hours-per-year rule.
Is there a yearly minimum?
Yes. Six of the 12 hours must be finished in the first year of the two-year period, or the license is automatically canceled.
What is the Kentucky Core Course?
A state-specific CE course that all active licensees subject to CE must complete once every four years. No other course substitutes for it.
What if my license is canceled?
KREC says a canceled license can be placed into inactive or active status within one year of cancellation.
