Iowa CE renewal: common questions
How many CE hours do Iowa real estate agents need?
36 hours per three-year license term to renew active: an 8-hour Law Update course, a 4-hour Ethics course and 24 elective hours.
When do Iowa licenses expire?
Licenses are issued for three-year terms, counting the rest of the year of issue as a full year, and expire December 31 of the third year.
Can extra hours carry over?
Up to 50% of the required hours, a maximum of 18, can carry into the next renewal period, but none can count toward the Law Update or Ethics courses.
Can I repeat a course?
No. During each three-year renewal period, a course can be taken for credit only once.
