How many CE hours do Illinois real estate brokers need?
12 hours each renewal cycle: a 6-hour Core course and 6 hours of electives, including Sexual Harassment Prevention Training.
When do Illinois broker licenses renew?
Broker licenses expire on April 30 of even-numbered years. The 2026 renewal deadline was April 30, 2026, so the next is April 30, 2028.
Do I need CE for my first renewal?
No. Brokers renewing for the first time complete 45 hours of post-license education instead; it already includes the required hour of Sexual Harassment Prevention Training.
How do I prove my CE?
You certify on your renewal application that you've met the requirement. Keep your records, because IDFPR can ask for proof. You can check completed courses with IDFPR's CE Lookup.
Who's exempt?
Attorneys admitted to practice law in Illinois are exempt from CE, but they still have to certify compliance on the renewal application.
