Getting a Georgia real estate license: common questions
How many hours of pre-license education does Georgia require?
75 hours. You complete the Salesperson Prelicense Course at a school approved by the Georgia Real Estate Commission. College real estate coursework (10 quarter or 6 semester hours) or 75 hours approved in another state can qualify instead.
Do I need a background check?
Yes. Bring a copy of your Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) report to the PSI test center, not to the Commission, before you receive a license.
How much does it cost to get licensed?
The PSI exam fee is $175, and the license fee is $170. The license fee covers all fees for your first four years.
How soon after passing do I have to apply?
Apply for an active or inactive license within three months of your exam date. Between three and twelve months, the license fee doubles. After twelve months, you must retake the exam, but not the prelicense course.
When can I start working?
Not until your broker receives your wall certificate and pocket card from the Commission.
