Getting a Florida real estate license: common questions
How many hours of pre-license education does Florida require?
63 hours. Sales associates must complete a FREC-approved 63-hour pre-licensing course based on the FREC Course I syllabus and pass its end-of-course exam.
Can I take the Florida pre-license course online?
Yes. FREC allows the pre-licensing course in classroom and distance education formats.
How long is my pre-license course valid?
Two years from the date you complete it. You need to pass the state exam and get licensed within that time for the course to count.
What score do I need on the Florida state exam?
At least 75 on the Florida Real Estate Sales Associate Examination.
Is my license active as soon as I pass?
No. It's issued in inactive status. You activate it with DBPR form RE 11, or your broker can activate you through their online account once your license number is issued.
